Welcome to Readii. Readii is operated by Readii Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, with its registered address in Canterbury, UK. By using our website and app, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them in full before you use Readii.
Readii is a tool that turns an English book you already own into a playable reading journey. You can upload books in EPUB or TXT format, and Readii splits them into passages and generates word glosses, character cards and other reading aids to help you finish the book.
Readii is free to use for public-domain books and books other users have shared with you, and includes every reading aid (word lookup, translation, floating glosses, prophecies, the Card Album, the map) at no charge. Readii Pro is an optional paid upgrade for how many of your own books you can upload each month — free accounts can upload 1 of their own books per month; Pro accounts can upload 10.
Pricing (VAT included): CNY side ¥48/month, ¥468/year; GBP side £4.99/month, £49/year. The two currencies use different payment methods and renewal mechanics:
Payment starts the service immediately: once your payment completes, Readii Pro activates straight away. This means you agree that the service begins immediately, and you therefore waive the 14-day cooling-off period that UK consumer contract regulations would otherwise give for digital services.
Refund policy: fees already paid for the current period are non-refundable, except where we are unable to continue providing the service (for example, if it shuts down or becomes unavailable long-term), in which case we will refund the unperformed portion. You may cancel at any time (one click on the GBP side; simply let it lapse on the CNY side) — cancelling stops any future charges, and fees already paid remain usable until the end of the current period.
Allowance and books you've already uploaded: when Pro lapses, it only affects how many new books you can upload each month going forward. Any book you've already uploaded — together with its chapters, word glosses, prophecies, character cards and everything else — stays readable forever and will never be locked or downgraded because your membership has lapsed.
You may only upload books you lawfully hold — for example, books you've bought, or works you're otherwise free to use. Readii is not a channel for distributing pirated content; uploading or spreading pirated or unauthorised copyrighted works is strictly prohibited.
You are fully responsible for the legality of every book you upload to Readii. If content you upload infringes someone else's copyright, you personally bear the resulting legal liability; Readii accepts no liability for copyright disputes arising from content you upload. We reserve the right to remove content, and to suspend accounts where appropriate, on receipt of a reasonable copyright complaint.
When you use the "share to a specific email address" feature, the sharing screen will remind you again that copyright responsibility for that book's content rests with the person sharing it. The person you share with receives read-only access only, and may not re-share it with anyone else.
By using Readii, you agree that you will not:
The Readii product itself — including but not limited to its interface design, the Reggie character and copy, animation, code, and the reading aids we generate (word glosses, character card templates, and the like) — is owned by Readii Limited or its licensors. Copyright in the books you upload remains with their original authors or rights holders; Readii claims no ownership over the original text of any book you upload.
Readii is provided "as is", without any warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or will meet your specific requirements. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Readii Limited is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (such as liability for fraud or gross negligence).
We may from time to time adjust, add to, or remove features, and may suspend or discontinue the service for business reasons; we will try to give advance notice where we can. You may stop using Readii and request account deletion at any time — see our Privacy Policy for how account deletion is handled. If you breach these Terms (for example, by uploading pirated content), we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date on the website, and we may also notify you by email or in-app notice. Continuing to use Readii after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms of Service are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the law of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
