Readii is operated by Readii Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, with its registered address in Canterbury, UK. We take your privacy seriously. This document explains, in plain language, what data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. If you have any questions, please get in touch using the contact details at the end.
When you use Readii, we collect the following kinds of data:
Readii relies on the following third-party service providers to run the product. Each only processes the data necessary for its own role:
| Provider | Purpose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and account authentication | Stores accounts, reading progress, new words, cards, and uploaded book files. Servers are located overseas; see Section 4. |
| Netlify | Website and app hosting | Hosts the website front end and deployments. |
| Postmark | Transactional email | Sends verification codes and password resets; not used for marketing. |
| Google (sign-in) | Optional third-party sign-in (OAuth) | Used only if you choose to "sign in with Google", to verify your identity. |
| Google Analytics | Usage analytics | Collects anonymised/aggregated product usage data to help us understand where the experience falls short. |
| FusionPay | Payment processing · CNY | Used only if you pay for Readii Pro via Alipay/WeChat Pay; processes the transaction data required for that payment (order number, amount, payment status). |
| Stripe | Payment processing · Card | Used only if you subscribe to Readii Pro by card; processes the transaction data required for that payment. Your card number is collected directly by Stripe — we never see it. |
We do not sell or rent your data to advertisers, and we do not share it with any third party outside the scope described above.
Readii's database and file storage are provided by Supabase, whose servers are located overseas (outside mainland China). This means that if you use Readii from mainland China, your account information, reading data and uploaded books will be transferred to and stored on servers outside the country. We require all our service providers to apply industry-standard security measures (encryption in transit, access controls) to protect this data. If you have concerns about cross-border data transfer, please contact us before use to learn more, and decide accordingly whether to upload sensitive content.
By default, every book you upload and everything derived from it (summaries, cards, new words, questions) is strictly locked to your own account and never shared with other users. The one exception: when you actively and explicitly choose to share a book you've uploaded with a precisely specified email address, that share is read-only — the recipient can only read the original text and what you've shared; their own reading progress, new-words list and Card Album stay entirely separate, and they may not re-share it with anyone else. The sharing screen clearly states that copyright responsibility for that book's content rests with the person sharing it, not with Readii.
We use necessary cookies/local storage to keep you signed in and to maintain your reading progress. We use Google Analytics to collect anonymised product usage statistics (such as pages visited and time spent) to help us improve the product. You can decline cookies through your browser settings, or block analytics scripts with an ad-blocker, without affecting core reading functionality.
If you are located in the UK, the EU, or another region where GDPR / UK GDPR applies, you have the following rights over your personal data:
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email address at the end of this page; we will process your request within a reasonable time.
We retain your account information, reading data, and uploaded books for as long as your account remains active. You may request account deletion at any time; after deletion, we will delete or anonymise your personal data and uploaded content within a reasonable period, except where records must be retained by law.
Readii is intended for users aged 13 and over (16 and over in some regions). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below the applicable local minimum age. If you believe a child has used Readii and provided personal data without a guardian's consent, please contact us and we will address it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If there are material changes, we will update the effective date on the website, and material changes may also be communicated by email or in-app notice. We recommend checking back here occasionally.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, please contact: admin@readii.co.uk
